Channel subscription bot template: subscription check and material
The bot asks the platform whether the person is subscribed to your channel: subscribers get the material, everyone else gets a request to subscribe. The check works if the bot is a channel admin.
Suitable for: Channels, Bloggers
How it works
What you can customize
- Message texts and buttons
- Fields of the “Data collection” block and format checking
- Tags, notifications and transmission to the operator
- Channels: Telegram, MAX, VKontakte, chat on the website
Sample dialog
The material is for channel subscribers. Subscribe and tap “I subscribed”.
I subscribed
How the template works
A “Message” asking to subscribe with an “I subscribed” button → a “Condition” with the “Subscription” rule and three branches. “Subscribed” → the subscribed tag and a “Message” with the material. “Not subscribed” → a request to subscribe and tap “I subscribed” above again. “Couldn’t check” — the platform didn’t answer or the bot can’t see subscribers — → a request to try again in a minute. The trigger is /start; for a post, add a “Deep link”. Next to “I subscribed” add an “Open channel” URL button with a link to your channel — only you know the address.
Before launch, add the channel to “Channels to check” (opened from “Channels” and Studio) and select it in the “Condition” — without a channel the editor won’t save the flow. In Telegram the bot sees subscribers only if it’s a channel admin; on VK the subscription to the community connected to the bot is checked; in MAX the bot must also be a channel admin. A platform failure leads to “Couldn’t check”, not “Not subscribed”: nobody gets cut off by mistake.
How to use it without losses
The subscription is checked at the moment of the tap: a person can still unsubscribe after getting the material. If the contact matters, ask for an email or phone with a “Data collection” block — it stays with you regardless of the subscription. That is how the “Issuing a lead magnet” template works.
Entry from a channel is a deep link https://t.me/your_bot?start=post_42 under the post. A subscription giveaway with participant numbers and results is a separate template, “Subscription giveaway”. A separate page about the Telegram setup — “Channel subscription in a Telegram bot”. Open the template in your account.
Frequently asked questions about the template
Does the bot check the subscription via the Telegram API?
Yes: the “Subscription” rule in a “Condition” asks Telegram whether the person is subscribed to the selected channel. For that the bot must be a channel admin. If Telegram doesn’t answer, the flow goes to the “Couldn’t check” branch, not “Not subscribed”.
What to do instead of a check so you don’t give the material away for nothing?
Ask for a contact before delivery with a “Data collection” block — the email or phone stays in your “Contacts” either way. Put the request to join the channel as the next step with a button to the channel.
